About
Discover the world through history
Seven History is an editorial collection of lesser-known true stories from world history — each one rooted in a single place, and chosen because it deserves to be better known.
What we publish
From the Ottoman frigate Ertuğrul lost off the coast of Japan to the Australian Emu War, the founding of New Amsterdam, and an unclaimed Antarctica, these are the chapters of history that rarely make the textbooks. Every story is tied to a place you can find on the globe, and grouped by continent, period, and theme so you can follow the threads that interest you.
Where the stories come from
Most of our stories are researched from and adapted into English from Yedikıta, a Turkish history magazine known for its archival depth and original documents. We rewrite each piece for an English readership rather than translating it word for word, and we name the author and original article on every page.
How we handle sources
Accuracy matters more than speed. Each article lists the books, archives, and articles it draws on, and credits the writer of the source material. Where a claim rests on a single document or a contested account, we say so in the text. If you spot an error, we want to fix it.
